It refers to use of filiform needles or other techniques to stimulate the auricular points to prevent and treat diseases.  It is commonly used to treat cold, heat-stroke, cough, asthma, stomachache, irregularities menstrual, dysmenorrhea, enuresis, sprain, insomnia, and other disorders.

Ear Acupuncture Therapy

Precautions:

① Strict antisepsis is necessary to prevent infection.

② Since it is pretty painful when puncturing the ear, special care should be taken to prevent acupuncture fainting.

③ It is forbidden to apply it to women during pregnancy if there is a history of miscarriage.  Be cautious in aged weak or overtired patients, or those with severe anemia.

④ When it is applied to a patient with sprain or motor impairment of extremities, ask them to move the affected extremity or give massage or moxibustion to the affected part after heat from congestion in the ear presents to improve the therapeutic effect.
