Precautions:

① Strict antisepsis is necessary to prevent infection, since the head is covered with hair.

② When a needle is inserted into the scalp, if a resistance to the needle is felt, or the patient feels painful, withdraw the needle a little bit, and insert it again from another angle.

③ Since the stimulation of scalp acupuncture is comparatively strong, and the duration of stimulation is fairly long, keenly observe patient’s expression to prevent fainting.

④ For patients with cerebral hemorrhage, only after the condition and blood pressure are stable can it be used.  It is not advisable to apply it to patients with a high fever or heart failure.
