A legend goes that in the Song Dynasty, one day a high official was assigned by the central government to rule Yinchuan.

On his way, he saw a girl about 16 or 17 years old, chasing a hoary-headed and humpbacked old man of about 90 years old.

The official got off his horse, blocked her way and asked: “Who is that old man? You ought to respect old people.  Why did you treat him like this?”  The girl answered: “He is my great grandson.”

The official asked in surprise: “Why did you beat him?”  “He refused to take the secret good remedy in the family, you see, he is so young, but he looks terribly old with grey hair and no teeth at all. I have to give him a lesson.” replied the girl.
