Empress Wu Zetian (624-705) of the Tang Dynasty had the longest life among all the rulers in the Tang Dynastiey and died at the age of 82. Perfect health cares were beneficial to her. She paid great attention to health care with medications. She used a formula recorded in the first Chinese Pharmacopoeia Xin Xiu Ben Cao (Newly Revised Materia Medica) for cosmetic treatment. The main ingredients of the formula were Chinese motherwort grass, jade powder, antler powder, talcum powder and rouge. Wai Tai Mi Yao (Medical Secrets of an Official) pointed out that using it constantly, women aged 50 would look like 15, ladies would look much younger.
