Sun Simiao (around 581-682), who lived to the age of 101, was the author of Qian Jin Yao Fang (Invaluable Prescriptions for Emergencies) and Qian Jin Yi Fang (Supplement to the Invaluable Prescriptions) which contained more than 800 kinds of herbs. In Qian Jin Yi Fang (Supplement to the Invaluable Prescription) recorded. He has been respectfully called the “ King of Medicinal Substances.” He developed classification of medicinal substances based on their actions, as well as the Ashi points in acupuncture treatment. He was the first one to use scallion as a catheter for catheterization, which is considered to be the earliest catheterization in the world. |
