The 2nd International Congress of Traditional Medicine
The 1st International Congress on Traditional Medicine was held in Beijing on October 23rd, 1991. Participants from over 40 countries attended the congress and unanimously approved the Beijing Declaration, urging governments of various nations, relevant international organizations and people from all walks of life to pay due attention and offer full support necessary to the development of traditional medicine. Meanwhile, the Declaration called upon people all over the world who were concerned about human health to work together to promote traditional medicine, to improve human health and to contribute to the health of all people.
The 2nd International Congress on Traditional Medicine with the theme of “Development and Application of Traditional Medicine in the 21st Century” was held in Beijing from April 22nd to 24th, 2000. More than 2,500 health officials and experts from 43 countries and regions took part in the congress. During the 3-day meeting, participants exchanged views on the development, management, promotion and application of traditional medicine, and visited the Exhibition of International Traditional Medicine.
The 3rd International Congress on Traditional Medicine with the theme of “Traditional Medicine and Human Health” was held in Beijing on November 13th, 2004. During the congress, participants discussed issues like the active role traditional medicine plays in the health care system and the ways to bring the unique advantages of traditional medicine into full play. They conducted academic exchanges, and showcased the achievements and progress of traditional medicine in such areas as scientific research, products, equipment and services. |
