The neurochemical mechanism of acupuncture analgesia has been almost clearly revealed by the Medical College of the Peking University in their long-term study. The research outcome won the National Natural Science Reward in 1987, the 2nd place of the Science & Technology Advance Awards of Traditional Chinese Medicine , issued by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1990,and the 2nd place of the National Science Awards in 1999.  
 
The Role of the Cerebral Cortex in Acupuncture Analgesia
The role of the cerebral cortex in acupuncture analgesia was revealed by the Acupuncture Institute, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences in their long-time study with modern technology, thereby laying a theoretical foundation for modern medicine. It won 6 prizes from the Ministry of Health and State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
