College Tibetan Medicine of is located in Lhasa. Its library boasts precious Buddhism Tipitaka and more than 2,100 volumes of Tibetan medicine books and nearly 100 colorful Thang-ga particularly for Tibetan Medicine teaching. The Experimental Specimen Center houses more than 1,000 Tibetan Medicine specimen. The College has the Museum of Tibetan Medicine and the Astronomy Museum.
There are 1,028 students, including 2 Ph.D and 34 master’s degree candidates, 844 undergraduates and 148 students for adult vocational education.
It is the exclusive one qualified to offer master’s degree of Tibetan Medicine. At present, it has 4 undergraduate majors, such as Tibetan Medicine, Tibetan Pharmacy, Astronomy and Tibetan Materia Medica , one elementary university laboratory and one local laboratory.
Since its founding 17 years ago, 1,100 Tibetan Medicine practitioners have been trained and textbooks of Tibetan Medicine have been compiled , which is unprecedented in the history of Tibetan Medicine. Besides, the first students with master’s degree have graduated. |
