| Examination for Practitioner’s License in the Republic of China(1911~1948) |

In October 1928, the central government began setting up the Examination Academy, which was officially opened in 1930, to monitor the state examinations for civil servants. On September 22nd, 1943, the government released the Physicians Law, specifying the qualification requirements for physicians of traditional Chinese medicine. On July 1st, 1945, the Ministry of Public Health issued "The Detailed Rules for the Implementation of the Physicians Law".
In 1945, the Examination Committee for Traditional Chinese Medicine Physicians suggested national unified examination for traditional Chinese medicine physicians. After approval the examination started on November 1st, 1946, October 27th, 1947 and May 10th, 1948 in Peking, Nanjing, Chengdu and other places. The examination was divided into two parts--compulsory and elective. The former included Chinese, Constitution, Diagnostics, Formulas and Medicinal Herbs while the latter included Internal Medicine, External Medicine, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Orthopedics and Traumatology, Acupuncture and Moxibustion and Tuina ( choose whichever one wishes). |
